Erin Cadet

LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who helps the freaks, geeks and malcontents navigate sexuality, relationships and/or gender related issues.

My areas of focus include relational, trauma work, racism, sexual compulsivity, sexual dysfunctions, body image issues, gender, sexual orientation, and general mental health concerns.  I work with a wide array of folx, including all gender expressions, sexual orientations, BIPOC and Kink/BDSM/nonmonogamous individuals, couples and triads.

I believe in co-collaboration. My approach integrates clinical modalities with somatics, spirituality and a person centered framework to create lasting change. The answers are inside you.

I’m here to help you find them. We work together to find understanding and work through issues brought into treatment. Clients often describe feeling embodied and empowered after working together.

My private practice serving Brooklyn, NY and surrounding areas in the city and the state of New York.

My Training

My therapeutic style is creative, collaborative and integrative, incorporating training in several modalities. I received a Masters of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Long Island University: Brooklyn. I incorporate a variety of modalities from Narrative, CBT, EFT, IFS, somatic therapy and Solution Focused to name a few. Prior to opening my practice I worked with severely mental ill populations, outpatient mental health in addition to sex therapy.

Regardless of the modality I operate from a social justice, anti-racist, intersectional lens.

I am continuing my studies at Modern Sex Therapy Institute and am currently a member of American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists.

About

I am an intern from Mercy College working on my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, My hope as a clinician is to be a foundation of hope, strength and a listening ear. I would like to give individuals, couples and families the reassurance of being able to get over the hurdles and traumas that they have been facing in their lives.

As a black, lesbian woman I understand the lack of mental health awareness in our community. Therefore I would like to approach therapy with an anti racist, non judgmental approach to help clients understand the daily difficulties they face. To help find solutions and empower you to over come any challenges so that you can achieve success and peace in your life and relationships.
